Be Our Guest Macaron Box Favor Boxes

Nothing says springtime to be than macarons, and these lovely “Be our Guest” macarons have the added bonus of being an ode to my favorite fairy tale story set in France. :) These classy and whimsical wedding favors are perfect for setting at place settings for your guests to see as they sit down to dinner!

I chose Oracal 651 Gold and Silver Vinyl for my decals and made my own strawberry and lemon macarons to fill them with! While the lemon macarons were my favorite, I think I like the pink macarons with gold lettering most! :)

1. After downloading the cut files, import them into the Cricut Software. After creating a new project, select Upload Image. Select the file you wish to upload and it will automatically take you to the final upload screen, where you can name the file the select Save. 

2. Cut the design(s) in your choice of permanent adhesive vinyl with the Vinyl Setting on your Cricut. The SVG Files are sized so that they will automatically cut to the size you see in the photos, but if you want to change the size you can do so.

3. Once the designs are cut, weed away the extra vinyl and cut a piece of transfer tape to 1" x 4". Cut away any excess backing from the vinyl design and smooth transfer tape over the design, aligning along the top of the text, as shown below. Using the smoother tool, smooth the tape to the vinyl, removing any air bubbles.

4. Remove the transfer tape from the backing, lifting the design from the backing to the transfer tape.

5. Aligning the transfer tape along the bottom edge of the clear window on the sleeve of the box, place the design in the middle of the window. With the tape aligning the top, I was able to center it in the window pretty easily and its also decently forgiving if its not exactly right, as long as the top is aligned.

6. Smooth the design on the window, using your fingers to smooth each letter onto the plastic.

7. Remove the transfer tape, leaving the design on the sleeve.

With the sleeves complete, next it is time to fold the boxes that will hold the macaroons! It took me a little trial and error to get it right so I will share it here as well, since my boxes didn’t come with instructions. I did my best on the description and took lots of pictures so hopefully it will help you as well if you are having trouble! :)

Box Assembly

Since these boxes are the same as my Love is Sweet Macaron Favor Boxes, I’m using those pictures! :)

1. Start by folding all of the lines on the box, as shown below. This will make the box easier to bend later and help you see how it goes together.

2. Taking the long edge, tuck in the two short middle flaps on the side, then fold over the wall and tuck the edge flap under the wall, forming the lengthwise wall as shown below. Repeat for both lengthwise walls.

3. Taking the end flaps on each of the lengthwise walls, hook them together to form the shorter wall of the box. once they are locked in, fold the last side flap over the wall, tucking the end flap under to complete the short wall of the box.

4. Once the boxes are made, fill them with macaroons, and then slide your sleeves over the cookies to finish the favors. I would recommend making all your sleeves and boxes beforehand, then filling them with their cookies the night before or morning of your event. :)

Love is Sweet Macaroon Favor Boxes

It’s the season of love everyone and nothing says love to me like macaroons! These pretty french cookies are light, sweet, and a perfect classy edible favor!

I ended up finding these adorable Macaroon Favor Boxes on Amazon, then is was super easy to measure the window, design a simple sticker, then cut and stick! I chose Oracal 651 Gold Vinyl and Silver Glitter Vinyl for my stickers and ended up picking up some macaroons for the boxes at the local super market. That being said, if you learn to make your own macaroons not only will you be able to customize the flavors and colors, but also will make them far far cheaper to make! :)

DIY Heart Wine Glass Place Cards

What better way to adorn your wine glasses in this lovely Valentine’s Season! I’m on a heart kick right now, probably due to really wanting to have a Galentine’s Brunch. :) For Galentine’s Day, Valentines Day, or any Wedding Celebration; these place cards are a cute and fun way to give your guests a glass and their table information.

I’ve made a couple place cards before but I want to try some Wine Glass Place cards again, but this time cutting them so they could sit on the edge of the glass. I started with a simple heart place cards that can easily be handwritten with your guest information. These ones are super simple, literally cut out, slight fold, and ready to go! :)

Supplies:
White Cardstock
Craft Cutter and Tool Set
Adhesive Mat
Heart Place Card Design File

1. After downloading the cut files, import them into the Cricut Software. After creating a new project, select Upload Image. Select the file you wish to upload and it will automatically take you to the final upload screen, where you can name the file the select Save.  Copy and Paste the design for as many placecards as you want (1 standard sheet of paper will fit 6 hearts).

2. Cut the design(s) in your choice of card stock with the Light Card stock Setting on your Cricut. The SVG Files are sized so that they will automatically cut to the size you see in the photos, but if you want to change the size you can. :) Load the Cricut with card stock (portrait orientation) and cut the designs.

Note: You’ll notice that I used a standard mat for this project, but I would recommend the Light Grip Mats for Paper Products. This just happens to be one of my older mats that’s not quite so sticky anymore :)

3. Remove the card stock from the outer edge, leaving the hearts on the cutting mat.

4. Peel off each place card from the edge of the design, leaving the extra paper on the cutting mat. Repeat with all hearts, then remove and discard all the card stock left on the cutting mat.

5. Using your finger, create a bend horizontally on the card, not folding the card but pressing it with your fingers into a curved shape. This will make it easier to sit nicely on the glass.

6. Place on the glass with the cut out “tab” side of the heart on the inside of the glass. Once your guest information has been written, they can be stored until you are ready to place them on the glasses of your event! :)

DIY Bridesmaid Wine Glasses

One of my favorite things to make for bridal parties are themed glasses, whether for DIY Nights, Bachelorette Parties, Bridal Showers, or Getting ready on the big day! I will be posting on how to make your own personalized glasses in a bit, but these are more generic and can be easily used for all wedding events by your girls. 

I cut out mine using a Champagne Glitter Vinyl, but there are many options to choose from if it's not quite right for wedding party. Also worth noting, when I designed the cut files I kept the text black on a blank canvas, so on my computer then tend to be on a black background and can't be seen very well, you can right click to either copy the file or save it and it should be black text with a clear background. :)

Supplies:
Stemless Wine Glasses

Maid of Honor Cut File

1. Download the Bridesmaid and Maid of Honor Cut File by clicking the links above, which will open the file into a new tab. right click on the picture and select "Save Picture as".  

2. Import the files into the Cricut software. You can do this by going to the software; and, after making a new project, click the "Upload Button." Then Select Upload Image

3. Click "Browse" and select the file you want to cut from your saved files. Once the file is selected, a new screen will appear to choose cut complexity. I generally find the best results on the "Moderately Complex" Setting. Click your setting of choice then click "Continue."

4. You will now be on the "Select and Erase Screen." In this case, there is nothing to erase so just press continue to go to the final screen. Here you can choose whether is is a "Print to cut" file or regular "Cut" File. Select the Cut file, then press "Save."

5. Back on the Upload Screen, Repeat Steps 1 - 4 on the "Maid of Honor" image. Once both images have been uploaded, select them from the main "Upload Screen" and click "Insert Images."

6. Both the "Bridesmaid" and "Maid of Honor" Decals should be on your Project Screen. Size your "Bridesmaid" Image to 4.5" wide and the "Maid of Honor" image to 3" tall to have them be a similar size to the glasses pictured. Then copy and paste additional decals as needed from these resizes ones. Press Continue to go to the Cut Screen.

7. On the Prepare Screen, confirm that your designs are arranged as you would like them on the cutting mat, then press "Continue." You can move any object by dragging and dropping it on the mat. Finally, load your vinyl of choice, select "Vinyl" on your machine, load your craft cutter, then press the Cricut "C" button on the cutter when it blinks.

8. Cut out your files on the adhesive vinyl of your choice and weed the extra vinyl from the design.

9. Press transfer tape along the design, aligning the text with the grid lines of the transfer tape. Use a smoother tool to release any air bubbles and the get the vinyl to stick to the tape.

10. Slowly remove the tape from the vinyl design, making sure that the design transfers from the vinyl backing to the tape.

11. Angle your text such that it leaves about an inch around the top of the glass and stick the middle of the design on the wine glass. From the middle of the glass, smooth the design along the curve of the glass from the middle to the edges. The transfer tape won't perfectly lay on the glass due to its curved surface, but the text can be smoothed on without much fuss.

12. Once design has been pressed onto the glass, slowly remove the transfer tape, confirming that the design transfers from the tape to the glass. Repeat with all your remaining glasses.

Wine Bottle Table Numbers

Both of the weddings I crafted for last month have something in common, wine bottles! An established wedding trend for the DIY Bride is to use painted wine bottles in centerpieces and for other wedding décor. With that in mind, what easier way to make table numbers than to display them on one of the wine bottles!

Supplies:
Painted Wine Bottles
Adhesive Vinyl 
Transfer Paper
Craft Cutter and Tool Set
Adhesive Mat
Table Numbers 1-6 Cut File
Table Numbers 7-12 Cut File
Table Numbers 13-18 Cut File

1.     Import the Table Number Cut Files into the Cricut Design Software. Size the cut files to 11.5” high and cut out on the vinyl of your choice.

2.     Weed any excess vinyl from design and cover with transfer paper, smoothing the transfer paper so that there are no air bubbles.

3.     Once transfer paper is placed, cut out numbers so each Table number is its own rectangle.

4.     Peel Transfer tape with design off of the vinyl backing and place onto the painted wine bottle. Press design onto bottle then remove the tape, leaving the vinyl table number on the bottle. Repeat for the rest of your bottles.

Making wine bottle table numbers is very easy with a craft cutter; in fact it’s basically cut it out and stick it on. I have designed a basic set of table numbers here but you could easily design your own and use the same steps to make customized table numbers!

No Sew Steamer Trunk Card Box

For my wedding, one of my best friends hand painted an adorable card box for us that I still have and love. So when my Gold Rustic Bride needed a card box, I decided to make her a card box too!

For this one, I actually ended up covering an old card box I had with fabric and decorating it with dark brown banding and antique gold upholstery trim to try to make it look a bit like a steamer trunk. Why? Because I always see this couple travelling and what cuter way to receive cards than a little trunk? :)

Now I outlined in the tutorial how I did this but honestly a lot of it was cutting, eyeballing and gluing fabric until it looked how I wanted it to so sorry if it’s a bit confusing! Hopefully the pictures will help if you want to make a card box too! :)

Supplies:

Card Box (I got mine from Michaels)
Beige Canvas Fabric
Teal Lining Fabric
Dark Brown Banding
Antique Gold Upholstery Trim
Glue (I would recommend Fabritac for this because my craft glue was much harder to use!)

Cover the Outside of the Box in Beige Fabric:

1.     Cover bottom and sides with beige fabric:  Run a line of glue along the top edges of the box and tuck the fabric into the crease. Let dry. Stretch fabric under card box and trim to fit into the crease of the other side. Glue fabric into the edge similar to the other side.

2.     You will notice the excess fabric around front and back: trim apx. ½” from the corner, glue flush to the front and back.

3.     Cover top sides: cut piece of fabric slightly larger than edges, run lines of glue along sides and under top, gluing fabric pieces in place. Let dry.

4.     Cover the front to lid: Measure and cut a piece of fabric that can wrap from the top front of your box over the lid and tuck under the front lip. Fold over long edge of the fabric and glue to create a clean edge. Line up edge of box to finished edge, then trim and fold over fabric on the other side to create a rectangle with two folded and glued seams that are the width of your box.

5.     Starting at the front, glue along the vertical edges of the box and glue fabric rectangle from the front of the box, under the bottom and over the lid. Glue edges into the creases as before.

Add Banding and Upholstery nails around the bottom and to the lid:

1.     Run lines of glue along the bottom of the box and secure banding around the perimeter. Let Dry.

2.     Measure and Cut a Strip of the Upholstery Nail Trim that goes all the way around the box. Using the nails provided, nail the trim around the box at the designated holes.

3.     There will likely be a little extra space if the perimeter of your box doesn’t perfectly align with the trim. Make the trim as close as you can and using some of the extra nails finish the pattern by nailing in the last few brads.

4.     Once the bottom is done, glue banding along the top edge of the lid of your box. Let Dry.

Line the Inside of the Box:

1.     Similar to covering the outside, start by cutting out two small strips to glue into the sides of the lid of your box. Stretch to fit and glue in place.

2.     Make a rectangle that is slightly larger than the inside of your box lid, then glue and fold over the edges to make a clean-lined fabric rectangle (like step 4 of covering the outside. Glue into the lid of your box, leaving the rough edge towards the bottom.

3.     Glue and tuck in two pieces of lining fabric for the inside front and back of your box. Make another rectangle with glued edges that are long enough to go down the side of your box, across the bottom, and up the other side of the box. Glue into the box along the edges and let dry.

Finish Banding around the Top of the Box:

1.     Along the edges where the teal and beige fabric meet, run glue along both sides of the edges of the box. Unfold the banding once so that it can be slipped over the top of the edge with banding on both sides.

2.     Secure banding in place with the glue lines and let dry.

Optional: Prop your Card Box open against a wall and glue in a piece of banding connecting the lid to the bottom of the box and let dry (I also clipped my pieces to the box while they dried for extra stability). This will help your box look pretty and stay open to receive cards! :)

Vellum Paper Rose Escort Card Holders

With all my leftover roses from the Beauty and the Beast Shower, I have been looking for a new home for them. Luckily, they worked out perfectly for my sorority sister’s Rustic Glam Gold Wedding! Her main flowers are white roses, so these beauties were the perfect accent to go with her existing floral arrangements. With that in mind, we decided these would be perfect as place card holders for her guests!

While the assembly of the flowers is the same as in the previous Vellum Roses post, there are a couple other steps to make them the perfect escort card holders. In particular, I used vinyl to color the leaves a pretty metallic gold to go with the wedding colors and then secured each place card with double sided tape to ensure that they all stayed with their flowers and were easy to set up the day of!

Supplies:
Cream Vellum
Paper Modgepodge
Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Escort Cards (I printed mine on cardstock and cut them into 2” x 3” rectangles)
Gold Vinyl (optional)

1.     Print, cut out, and assemble the roses like in the Vellum Roses tutorial. Take care to not fold or attach the leaf portions to your flowers yet.

2.     Design, print, and cut out your escort cards (I used the font Good Vibes and Bebas Neue). Using double sided tape, tape the back of the card to the front of one of the petals. I generally taped mine a few petals out from the center were the card was clearly readable. Once you have all your cards taped, set the flowers aside but try to keep them in whatever order you want them placed for the wedding.

3.     If you are using vinyl on your leaves, remove backing from your vinyl and lay it down on your work surface, adhesive side up. Arrange as many leaves as you can on the sheet and smooth them down, making sure there are no air bubbles. Using scissors, cut leaves out of the vinyl.

4.     Fold two of the three leaves as shown in the original tutorial. For the third leaf, fold in the opposite way as the other two leaves so that it will prop up the back of the flower.

5.     Using hot glue, attach the leaves to the flowers, making sure the “proper” leaf is in the back, perpendicular to the escort card.  (Sorry these are a little blurry!)

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the leaves being gold but as it turned out I adored it! With the roses being a little translucent themselves the gold leaves gave a magical quality to the roses, which of course I loved! I ended up being able to pack them up in a box with glass dividers so that they would move around and would stay in order for their trip up to their mountain wedding. Easy DIY Wedding Signs

While Wedding Season really starts in late Spring I seem to have gotten all my wedding DIY fun in this September! Two of my sorority sisters are getting married this month and I have had so much fun making things for their big days!

One of the often overlooked details in wedding decorations are signs, so I have designed two simple ones for the Gift Table and Favor Table in 5 x 7 frames, so that they are easy to pack, look cute, and were super easy to make! This bride is having an upscale rustic wedding in golds, cream and teal, so I incorporated the rustic tree slices in the gold background paper with white lettering to make it easy to read and also give the signs an upscale feel. After all, white writing is far harder to come by than almost any other color with printers; luckily that’s where a craft cutter comes in handy!

The best part of this project is that is it totally customizable to your colors and theme, you simply have to pick the paper, frames, and colors that you want to personalize them for your big day!

Thank you Sign Cut File

1.     Upload the Cut files into the Cricut Software and cut out on the vinyl color of your choice. I used removable vinyl and would recommend it if you want to use the frames again for a non-wedding purpose. I sized my cut files to be 6” wide.

2.     Cut out the sign lettering on your choice of vinyl. Weed out the excess vinyl. Using grid patterned transfer paper, measure and cut out two 5” x 7” pieces. Cut it out along the grid lines; it will make the vinyl transfer so much easier!

3.     Take the glass out of the frames and arrange the lettering where you would like it on the glass. If needed, you can tape the sides of the vinyl backing to keep it in place but I found it to be uneccesary.

4.     Lining up the Transfer paper to the top left corner of the glass, cover the entire piece of glass with the 5” x 7” transfer paper piece. Using a smoother or your hands, smooth out any air bubbles.

5.     Now, lift the transfer paper and vinyl design off the glass, making sure to not completely remove the transfer paper from the glass; keeping it stuck will keep your letters right where you wanted them! Once the vinyl design is removed from the backing, take the backing off the glass.

6.     Restick the transfer paper to the glass to adhere the lettering. Smooth out any air bubbles, then completely remove the transfer paper, leaving the lettering exactly where you wanted it on the glass.

7.     For the background in the frame, trace around the glass of your frames then cut it out with scissors. Place the background paper behind the glass in the frame and you are done!

While I made just the two signs for the Gift Table and Favor Table, you could also easily use this for table numbers, buffet signs, or your guestbook sign! I think I will do these again for my next shower; they are so easy and can be totally customized to whatever theme you want! What would you use these signs for? :)

Beauty and the Beast Bridal Shower

It’s time to present the entire Beauty and the Beast Bridal Shower! I had so much fun designing this and I’m super happy I made it my first shower! I went with the colors of mint and blush, with Cream Roses as far as the eye could see.

I combined all the Bridal Shower Games, Prizes, and Guest Favors on one table. I made two games for this shower, Bridal Bingo and Match the Couple. Both of the printables have the same style design, a stained glass style cluster of roses inspired by the stained glass in the original movie

The scattering of roses with the teacups made a nice background as well as displayed the prizes for winning the games. The Prizes were, of course, the Wood Wick Teacup Candles. Chip was one of my favorite characters in the Beauty and the Beast story so of course I needed an ode to him in this shower! The favors were Loose Tea housed in cute little silver tins as an affordable tasty favor!

My other favorite character, Mrs. Potts, got a whole tea bar! I used my Wilton Cake Stand without its largest platter to hold the tea and pot, while the garland of roses around the bottom could house honey, milk, sugar cubes, and other fun tea additions (unfortunately my house was out of those things!). I really liked how the garland of flowers on the stand turned out, it gave such a fun romantic touch and really helped the tea bar stand out!

For the main Food and Beverage table, its main adornment was a huge “Be Our Guest” Vinyl Cutout accentuated with trios of roses. I generally don’t like to put a whole lot of decoration on the food table itself, but I used a few extra roses as sign holders for the foods and drinks.

Now my friends will laugh but I tried really hard to keep it simple on this one. Yes there are a lot of different things and in reality it takes work to make all these items. But with 4 projects (sorry I don’t count printing game cards a project), you could have the difference between a regular Bridal Shower and a super fun themed shower like this! Decorating with Vellum Paper Flowers

My favorite decorations that I made for the upcoming Beauty and the Beast Shower were bunches of paper roses made with vellum! What is so great about them is that, while they do take some time, they are so cheap to make and came out absolutely stunning! Sure, it takes many hours to make a bunch of them, but when I can make 100 flowers for $20 in paper, the trade off is worth it! :)

I particularly like using Vellum as the paper for this project, I could print on it with no issues and it gave all the petals a pretty translucent look, making them look more expensive than the standard paper flowers.

I can’t take credit for the tutorial on these flowers, merely the type of paper and how I used them to decorate. I used the White Rose template and printed 100 of them on Cream colored Vellum. There are several colors of Vellum from Paper and More if you want something that is not cream; you can check out all the types they have here.

Some extra tips I have on this tutorial:

-If you are using vellum, try to cut on the inside of the cutout lines/ The lines will show through the petals so the less gray the better.

-I used Paper Modgepodge on the petal sets 4-7 and just used hot glue on the inner petals and to put all the layers together. I’m not sure that it makes a difference but if you want to do it exactly as I did, that’s how.

I used them to decorate in three main ways. First, I used double sided tape on the back of the outer petals to stick them to the wall to add dimension to the quotes I made in vinyl. In addition, I hung them off of serving trays in the same fashion that you can see in the Beauty and the Beast Shower pictures. What’s great about vellum in this case is that the double sided tape easily comes off without damaging the flowers in case you want to use them again for something else. In fact, these flowers will hopefully go to hold escort cards at one of my sorority sister’s wedding!

Inspired by using them as escort card holders, I also used them to label food and drink items by simply printing a tag and securing it between the petals. The vellum is stiff enough that you can tuck the cards into the petals and have it stay in place relatively easily.

Finally, with all the extras I just sprinkled them all over all the tables that I had, it made all the teacups look so cute nestled in a big bed of flowers! These beauties were a labor of love but gave that extra special something to the whole shower setup! How would you use these flowers to decorate?

Beauty and the Beast Bridal Bingo

One of my favorite Bridal Shower Games is the ever popular “Bridal Shower Bingo.” Guests are given cards of potential gifts that the Bride-to-Be could receive and mark them as she opens her gifts. I particularly like it because it keeps everyone engaged in the present opening time during every shower, which can tend to be hard to pay attention to.

Many times, Bridesmaids will use items they see are purchased on the bride’s registry to form the game cards, but for this theme I took it in a different direction. Instead of specific items, instead I have descriptions of item categories that you can mark off based on how well whatever was unwrapped fits into the category. I did a similar game card for a baby shower last year and guests had a lot of fun discussing what “counted” and what didn’t!

Similar to the “Match the Couple” Printables, these are a simple print, cut on the black line, and hand out! I have made a set of 24 potential cards plus a blank copy that you can to have people fill in what they think the Bride will open before the game starts!

Beauty and the Beast Match the Couple Bridal Shower Game

“Match the Couple” games are a standby at Bridal showers, where guest match together celebrity or other famous couples.  I always think it is a great addition for a shower as an easy game that doesn’t require a lot of prep!

Inspired by Belle’s love of books, all of my match ups are couples in novels throughout the years! I kept the same rose design as the Tea Favors and have the file formatted for two game cards per page. I would’ve made a tutorial but this was so simple it seemed silly. Just print them out on paper or card stock, cut along the black line, and you’re done! I love giving away Teacup Candles as prizes for games and they go along perfectly with the Beauty and the Beast Theme! Now the better question is: do you know all the books these characters are in? :)

Vinyl Wall Quote Decorations

One of my favorite things about planning DIY Parties and my Cricut is that it makes it so easy to make custom decorations for your theme that guests are always impressed by! Here we are starting with something simple, designing your own quote cutouts using your Cricut!

For the Beauty and the Beast Theme, I went with movie quotes that worked well with what I was designing, mainly the Tea Bar, Teacup and Tea Favors, Food, and Guestbook.

For this project I would highly recommend getting a larger 12” x 24” mat, it makes it so much easier to design and cut your quotes!

Supplies:
Black Adhesive Vinyl Roll
Craft Cutter and Tool Set
Adhesive Mat
 

1.     To start, you need to make your text into a picture. I have done some text cuts in the Cricut software but it doesn’t work as well for the cursive style texts as well. When I need to make such pictures, I use PicMonkey. You can use the free version for this font with no issues! Go to picmonkey.com and select the Design Tab on the Top. Don’t pick any of the suboptions and it should take you to a blank square to start.

2.     For Canvas Color, select the “Transparent Canvas” Box and Apply.

3.     Now, resize the background to 2000 x 1000 pixels. Go to the Resize tab, uncheck the “Keep Proportions” Option, then enter your number and click Apply.

4.     Now you can insert the text of your choice! Select the Button the text button (Tt), Select the Font you want (I used Great Vibes for my text), then click add text

5.     A small text box will appear on your canvas. Type in whatever text you want, then using the text options or by manually dragging the box, change the size of the text to fit your background. You can also change colors and other text properties here but there is no need for this project.

6.     Save the design as a picture by selecting “Export” on the upper options bar, naming the file, then export to computer.

7.     Now, Import the Picture into the Cricut Software. Follow the tutorial for the Bride Tribe Tumblers if you need help importing the photo to the software.

8.     Size the Picture to be 11.5” tall. Confirm that the width is no longer that 23.5”. Cut out the image on removable vinyl with the large cutting mat.

9.     Remove all the excess vinyl from the image and cover with contact paper. Smooth the contact paper to adhere the design and remove any air bubbles.

10.    Stick to the wall! Clean the wall beforehand; then arrange where you want your design and smooth the contact paper onto the wall.

11.     Smooth out any air bubbles again and slowly remove the contact paper. My contact paper did a really good job of sticking to the design and not as good of a job unsticking it, so smooth the letters as you remove the contact paper to fully stick them to your wall.

As you can see, you can easily make any words you like in a myriad of fonts once you get the basics down! What quotes would you put on your wall? :)

D.I.Y. Loose Tea Favors

As much as I love teacups and teacup candles as favors, in reality that is just too expensive for everyday shower favors. That’s where these lovely tea tins come in! For a Beauty and the Beast feel, I modified a free piece of rose clipart that reminded me of the stained glass window in the original movie.

Supplies:
Avery 2” Round Labels
Silver Tins
Tea of choice
Tea-rific Labels

1.     Fill the tea tins with the tea of your choice. It took around 3 Tbsp of tea per tin to fill it about 2/3 full.

2.     Print your labels. I always print a test page of the labels to make sure they line up with your label paper. My printer was a little bit testy about printing them perfectly on the lines but since the rose pattern overlaps the label anyway it didn’t really cause any issues for my labels. :)

3.     Lastly, place the label on the lid of the tin and you are done!

Yes this is literally the easiest tutorial ever, making it a great last minute favor your guests will love! I’m already thinking of other fun foods for these tins; mixed nuts, coffee, sprinkles? :) What food would you give away in these cute little tins?

D.I.Y. Wood Wick Teacup Candles

There is nothing that adds a fun vintage flair to a shower quite like these teacup candles. And they are so versatile! I will be using them for a Beauty and the Beast themed bridal shower, but they could just as easily be used for a tea party, Jane Austen Shower, or Mother’s Day Brunch!

For me, the wood wicks were a requirement on this batch, they just remind me so much of a fire in the hearth, and for a Beauty and the Beast Shower, it is the perfect touch since most of the story takes place in the winter where crackling fires are most welcome! In addition, the teacups are the perfect ode to my favorite characters, Mrs. Potts and Chip!

I have wanted to make these candles for a while but was always discouraged for one reason, finding the teacups! While you can find teacups at yard sales and estate sales, I could rarely find them and when I could, they were $10+ per cup! Luckily, I had the thought to check Etsy for teacups and I was not disappointed! :)

I was very impressed with the Etsy shop, The Acerage, which I purchased my teacups from. First, they were half the price I see at estate sales for the same cups due to what they term “minor damage.” So when I received them I was expecting some stains, chips, or even small cracks. Imagine my surprise when all the cups that came not only were in great condition (I could hardly find any chips), but they were in fact much better than the aforementioned teacups I paid double for at the estate sale! I have linked in the supplies the set I used, which are great to make a whole set of candles for shower favors. When someone orders them, the listing will disappear but as soon as they gather the next set they list it again.

If giving the teacups as a favor is not quite in your budget, use them as bridal shower prizes and only make a couple! I have been using them for the last couple showers I have gone to as prizes for games and they have been beloved by all!

Supplies:  

Mismatched Teacups and Saucers
Wooden Candle Wicks
Candle Wax*
Candle Pouring Pot
Powdered Candle Dye
Essential Oils for Scent

*I used leftover candle stubs, but the wax linked here will make about 20 -8oz teacup candles

1.  Melt wax on low heat in your pot. If, like me, you are using candle stubs, remove the wicks from the old candles once the wax is completely melted using either tongs or a fork.

2. For these candles, the full wax wick is far too long. Insert the wood wick into its metal stand and place in the cup. Cut the wicks at the top of the teacup with a pair of scissors, then remove the candle wax from heat and soak them in the wax for 10 minutes. Soaking these wicks is VERY IMPORTANT, they are not like the standard wicks that are already coated in wax and not soaking them will lead to the candles not staying lit.

3. Once wicks have been soaked, remove them with tongs or a fork. Once they are cool enough to handle (I was able to touch them immediately) insert them into the metal holder stands included and let dry.

4. Now, attach the wicks to the bottom of your teacups by dipping the metal holder into the melted wax, then position at the bottom of the jar. 

5. Let the wax cool for a couple more minutes, then add color and fragrance of your choice. The ones I have recommended are great for candles, bath bombs, soaps, and bath salts, so you can get a lot of use out of them! I made pastel pink, purple, and yellow candles that were scented as peppermint-lemon, lavender-lemon, and rosemary-lemon (I know you can't tell that I like lemon).

6. Pour cooled (but still liquid) wax into the teacups. Reserve about 25% of your wax to remelt and top off your candles if a divot is created in the middle due to the wax cooling. The cooler the wax is, the less of a divot will form. Some of mine with the cool wax needed no additional wax to fill in, while the ones where I started with hot wax needed a lot of extra to make them look nice!

7. Once candles are cooled and solidified, remelt the excess wax and fill in any divots that were caused during the first pour. Now you have a lovely set of candles for your home or favors for your next party!

These have been by far one of my favorite DIY projects I have done lately and a project I have wanted to do for a long time! Now I just need to find homes for all the teacups I can’t keep, time for a tea party! :)
