If there’s a classy stationery detail I’ve been obsessed with lately, it has to be wax seals! So when I wanted to give my guests a take home gift for my last party in gable boxes, I knew just how I wanted to decorate them: some soft chiffon ribbon and some of my favorite marbled beauties for these Wax Seal Gable Gift Boxes.
Gable boxes are one of my favorite choices for packing small guest take home boxes, wedding welcome gifts, and most recently as a Tea & Scones Brunch Box for my friends to take home from my Vintage Victorian Cocktail Party! As I wanted these gift boxes to have the same feel as the invitations I sent my friends, I wrapped them with the same Rose Gold Chiffon Ribbon and sealed them with the same Marbled Self Adhesive Wax Seals, bringing my favorite seals back from the beginning to end the evening with! For these elegant minimalist gift boxes, these seals were the perfect pop to give them an upscale feel as well as match their unique invitations.

For these boxes as well as my Vintage Victorian Party Invitations, I made use of the beautiful Marbled Self Adhesive Wax Seals I made from one of my favorite affiliate partners, Artisaire! Specializing in creating beautiful wax seals, Artisaire carries all the supplies for creating unique and gorgeous wax seals, providing a full palette of wax colors, and collaborating with other talented designers to provide a myriad of stunning stamp designs. To learn more about the different kinds of wax seals you can create yourself and all the products of theirs I have used so far, check out my review of Artisaire here!

While I used these first for my guest gift boxes for my Vintage Victorian Cocktail Party, I’m certainly planning on using this simple gable box design for future cookie boxes, favor boxes and wedding welcome boxes, being both easy to make ahead of time and to customize to any event’s theme.

GIFT BOX SUPPLIES

Gable Gift Box: for the base of these gift boxes, these clean and simple white gable boxes were the perfect choice! Not only are gable boxes a great size for treats and hangover bags, for this style of gift box they are also useful because they can be folded down flat again to store; so you can make them early, store and assemble when you’re ready to fill!

Chiffon Ribbon: for a soft romantic style ribbon for accenting these gift boxes, fringe chiffon ribbon was exactly what I needed! This rose gold was perfect for these gift boxes and my party invitations, being one inch wide and therefore just the right size for the wax seals I made for them.

Self Adhesive Wax Seals: for finishing these boxes, the Marbled Self Adhesive Wax Seals I created with my Pascala Monogrammed Wax Stamp were the perfect accent, as well as matching previous party paperie and giving me yet another chance to use my favorite of the wax seals I’ve made from my Artisaire wax seal supplies, with the rose gold and vellum combo giving just vintage pop of prettiness I wanted! If you don’t have the time and supplies for making your own, I highly recommend looking through all the styles and colors of self adhesive seals Artisaire offers on their website, they have dozens of options to choose from and you can simply order as many as you need for gift boxes without the DIY hassle.

DIRECTIONS

1. Cut your ribbon into 18” lengths for as many gift boxes as you plan to make. Assemble the gable box according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

2. Using a small piece of double sided tape, stick your ribbon to the inside of the top flap under the handle. Thread the ribbon through the handle, then wrap it around the bottom to the back side of your gable box.

3. Line up the ribbon to run parallel to the short sides of your box, then secure the loose end of your ribbon just inside the other handle so that, when the gable box is closed the ribbon aligns.

4. Finish your gift box by removing the adhesive backing on your wax seal, then press it into the ribbon on the side opposite of the tab, about halfway up the side of the box. Fill with treats immediately or carefully unfold your boxes to store, repeating this process for all the boxes you want to make.

I love this simple and romantic style and can’t wait to experiment with different color combinations to use these again in my future gift boxes and take home gifts, but they work perfectly for all sorts of gifts! Whether you’re giving away holiday cookies, welcoming your wedding guests with hotel goodies, or making Brunch Hangover Gift Boxes like I was for my friends, this easy DIY will add that touch of elegance you’re looking for!
