Bun in the Oven Gender Reveal

July 28, 2015 in Gender Reveal

Several weeks ago one of my best friends and I planned a gender reveal for a wonderful mama to be and now I'm finally getting around to writing about it! After a successful brunch throwing around ideas a "Bun in the Oven" theme was decided. By the expectant mother's choice, we held it in a local park and the weather ended up being perfect for our group!

We used filled muffins iced with cream cheese frosting to reveal the gender, which a friend of the family made. They were delicious, even if they revealed that I had guessed wrong. :) All of the signs were printed on Pastel pink and blue paper to coordinate with the table cloths, and by far the most useful sign was the "Do not eat me" sign for the reveal muffins! Even though they were far away from the rest of the food, several people went over to eat one, only to be saved by the sign!

The menu included assorted muffins, berries, white cheddar popcorn, and pigs in (baby) blankets. The most popular food was the pigs, but most of the muffins got eaten as well. And seeing as how I may have made about triple the muffins we needed, I'd say that's a success. :) We also made blue "muffin" and pink "cupcake" buttons for people to wear to guess what they thought the baby would be.

Along with our themed corn hole game, we also had a volleyball net which turned out to be a great idea. Having other activities that the group could do really helped to keep the party upbeat and entertaining, which I find can always be a little difficult with gender reveals since basically the entire premise is: "Let sit around and wait to find out the gender of the baby." And finally.......drum roll............ it's a girl! The mother and father to be got their wish, and it was a fun time had by all!
